Proven Techniques

Jigging

The most productive method on Pipestone. Work jigs tipped with minnows along rocky points and drop-offs for consistent action.

Trolling

Cover water efficiently with crankbaits and spinner rigs. Excellent for locating active fish and triggering aggressive strikes.

Live Bait Rigging

Slip bobber and lindy rig presentations with leeches or nightcrawlers are deadly during summer months.

Seasonal Patterns

Spring (May-June)

Post-spawn walleye are aggressive and hungry. Target shallow rocky areas and points in 8-15 feet of water. This is prime time for trophy fish.

Summer (July-August)

Fish move to deeper water during the day. Focus on main lake points, humps, and deep weed edges. Early morning and evening provide excellent shallow water action.

Fall (September-October)

Walleye feed heavily before winter. Large schools roam the lake, and trophy fish are common. This is many anglers' favorite time to fish Pipestone.
